Job role : Accountant
World Monuments Fund is an international organization, to preserve endangered architectural and cultural sites around the world through fieldwork, advocacy, grant-making, education, and training.
The Accounting Associate is responsible for processing all receipts and disbursements and reports to the Finance Director.
General Duties:
Verify and process expenses, payables, checks, bank wire disbursements, 1099s, employee advances, and corporate credit cards while ensuring completeness and proper internal coding
Verify and process revenue receipts and receivables (pledges and accounts receivable), cash, credit card, and stock donations
Work with affiliate offices in preparing schedules and accounting entries
Reconcile general ledger account balances
Prepare reclassification and adjusting entries
Provide budget coding for existing and new staff
Respond to staff questions, research, and problem solve
Assist during annual audits and 990 preparations
Utilize bank, investment, statements IATS/Ticketmaster statements to record transactions
Administrative tasks including receipt and disbursement file maintenance
Provide additional financial/accounting schedules, analyses, and special project support as requested
Req. candidate profile : Qualifications:
AA/BS in Accounting
Minimum 2 years of not-for-profit accounting experience
Proficient in not-for-profit accounting and fundraising software (MIP, QuickBooks, and Raiser’s Edge a plus) in addition to MS Office especially Excel
Strong analytical skills and careful attention to detail
Ability to anticipate, troubleshoot, problem solve and create/implement systems that contribute to a smart working environment
Well organized and efficient, with ability to manage multiple priorities and work under tight deadlines
Proven ability to work effectively and maintain positive, productive relations with colleagues, management, financial institutions, donors, vendors, independent auditors, and consultants
Team focus and the ability to relate to and work with diverse populations as well as the ability to work independently
Ability and willingness to work with discretion in confidential matters
Flexibility with working overtime as needed and volunteering for additional duties
